11:40am, still not started

What he actually does
Working next to somebody is the oldest trick there is, and the people who swear by it mostly do it with a person — a friend on a call, a stranger on a timer, a room with other laptops in it. It works and it is a hassle. Someone has to be free. Something has to be scheduled. By the time the session starts, the twenty minutes in which you would have begun are gone.

The garden does not wilt while you are gone and it does not reset when you lapse. Progress is only ever added to. There is no version of using Stoiq badly that costs you something you already had.
On track, he stays out of the way entirely — no check-ins, no how-did-it-go, no asking why you closed the laptop. One useful nudge is the whole intervention, and it only becomes a wall if you keep going.

While you work he slips off somewhere and comes back with what he found. A fern from a cloud forest. A monstera he will not explain. Put them anywhere on your desktop; they grow for exactly as long as you do, and then they stay that size until you come back.
